I’m into everything skyward and I heard about this kiteboarding thing. I figured I’d check it out so I went looking for information and learned that kiteboarding or kitesurfing are where you use a kite for your power and lift while riding a wakeboard. It’s also done on land and snow. Now, I’ve skateboarded, snowboarded, surfed and wakeboarded. I’ve, also, flown stunt kites, hang glided, and skydived. Kiteboarding sounds right up my alley.I bought a trainer kite and video after speaking to an instructor who recommended learning how to handle the kite before taking a lesson. He said the students that come in there unprepared to handle the kite, spent less time in the water and more time on the land just learning the basics of kite flying. Once I got the basics down, I went and had professional lessons. Man, let me tell you that was awesome! It didn’t take long to learn how to launch the kite and, well, the wakeboarding just came naturally.
Now I’m addicted to the sport and look forward to working on new skills. If you want to give it a try, look around your area to see where everyone’s hanging out, and ask around to find the best instructor. A school with lots of kites and watercrafts so you spend less time floating around, would be the best choice. Some run camps which will greatly speed up your acquiring new skills.
